Our Biothane long line leashes are perfect for dog training, hiking, camping, or anytime you want to give your dog the feeling of off leash freedom while still maintaining control.
Made from 1/2" super heavy weight Biothane, they feature a trigger snap on one end to fasten to your dog and an o-ring on the other end.
The detachable handle has been designed with two trigger snaps and a O ring, which allows for the long line to be used in multiple ways:
↟ Clipped as a regular handle
↟ Clipped around a secure object to use as a tie out (only while supervised)
↟ Allow the line to drag on the ground with the handle removed
↟ Use the handle to attach the longline to the handsfree adapter
↟ Can be used with the sliding O ring on the handle to neatly bundle and carry/store the long line

Biothane is a coated webbing material that is strong, flexible and lightweight.
It's also waterproof, doesn't smell and is and stain resistant, making it extremely easy to care for and clean. This makes it our material of choice for pups that love to swim or get dirty!
We use the "Super Heavy" Biothane for all of our leashes, handsfree adapters, classic collars and martingale collars which has a substantial and luxe feel to it. Our adjustable quick release collars use the "Standard" Biothane.
One of the best things about Biothane is how easy it is to care for and clean. Simply soak your gear in warm soapy water as needed. You can use an old toothbrush to scrub away any stubborn dirt. Rinse away any remaining dirt and soap residue with clean water.
Solid brass hardware naturally oxidizes as it ages. It can leave tarnish marks against the biothane, especially on the lighter colours.
To remove tarnish marks, we recommend using a magic eraser or a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Please ensure to thoroughly rinse your product with soap and water before using your gear again.
While Biothane is easy to clean, it does still get dirty. Please keep in mind that lighter colours will show dirt and tarnish marks more easily, and will require more frequent cleaning to keep looking fresh!

Great product. Suggest YouTube videos before using to alleviate accidents. Even a small size dog can generate a lot of momentum especially if the cord gets wrapped around an ankle. Cheers

The long line with detachable handle has been amazing for getting out with a new puppy! The 20 ft length gives her just enough space to explore freely while being able to regain control quickly if necessary. It has also been a key tool in recall training. The other day we had an Aussie play date with our little one and our friend’s two girls, and it was a huge relief knowing I could let them all run free with her being on the long line with the handle detached, just in case. The terracotta and sage look beautiful together and the material is top quality for sure. Plenty of puppy chew moments as we work on leash manners and there are no bite/wear marks to be found, despite the daggers (aka puppy teeth)! Just ordered a matching traffic handle leash and hands-free adapter. Fully converted to Strange Tails in this household!
I got the ten metre long leash and I love it. My boxer is in the T rex stage and I don’t trust her off leash anymore so this is great. I can keep it on the hands free adapter and put it on when we’re in a big park or something. It’s also great for national parks that allow dogs but they have to be on a leash.

This leash is perfect for recall training; it's almost like having my dog off leash. It is light and easy to carry. In retrospect, I probably could have gotten a slightly shorter line for walking in the woods, but this does what I need it to and reflects the high quality I have come to expect in Strange Tails products. The tangerine color makes it easy to keep track of to avoid tangling. Merci beaucoup!
We just got our puppy and this long leash is perfect ! We went to the lake and she was able to explore and run and play in the water. I love that it's in biothan as well, so easy to clean 💜
Now, I understand why it took 3 weeks for them to make it. It is durable and light-weight. I love everything about this leash. I will order the 30ft in the future for our camping trip. The 20ft is a good length for my dog when I wanted to walk him in an unfenced field. It is not much of a hassle to carry. My dog is a lilac Boston Terrier who weigh 28lbs.
This was perfect for camping! It gave Gus the room to roam about safely in our campsite. Also fun at the beach and easy to clean.

This leash has been really great so far! It is a bit cumbersome to take on walks, but I think that's just the nature of long leads. It is nice that I can make it compact, it is light and easy to wipe down! I will be purchasing another leash at some point. I have really enjoyed using it so far!
I have both the 15ft and 30ft long lines and I love them. They never tangle and become knotted like previous ones I’ve owned and hold up well for the muddy and wet trails in the pacific northwest coast. Both work great with my hands free adapter. I’ve also received great customer service from the Strange Tails team on all the items I’ve ordered. All wonderful products.
This longline has been dragged across asphalt, trailed through the woods & used for backyard recall sessions. It cleans up beautifully, no scuffs or scratches! Very happy with it!
Love this leash system!!! Long lead is amazing. I use it as a drag leash. Daisy has so much fun running around, up trees, jumping on rocks. It’s so easy to connect to the hands free system when needed. Ordered two collars and can’t wait for them to arrive!
After just over 2 months of using our long line and hands free adapter Frank and I are absolutely in love with it! It’s so versatile, so many different ways to use each part of the leash and essentially tangle free. The material is very sturdy and easy to keep clean. We like to use it as a drag line so he has more freedom but can still be on leash and secured back to me easily if needed and it almost never gets snagged or stuck.
I really love the line in midnight. I had a trafic handle leash already in the midnight espresso combo so figured I would stick to the style! It is super light weight and easy to handle. The storage with the handle is so smart and super convinient! The leash does not get stuck a lot and when it does it is very easy to just clip off the handle part and get it unstuck! I have not used the drag line option yet, but I definitely see it's potential! The line also seems to bother my dog less compared to our old slightly longer but a lot heavier line!

I'm very happy with my long line. The hardware is sturdy and the biothane material feels really good in my hand. The line itself is flexible and strong. I definitely plan to make additional purchases from Strange Tails in the future.

Love the look and design! It’s super easy to clean. It’s a bit too heavy for my puppy to run with currently but I know once he gets bigger it will be fine. Also there was a paint/chemical smell when I first got it but it disappeared with use!
I love this leash! It is super easy to clean after hiking in the mud/dirt. The leash drags very easily on the ground and doesn’t tangle or get stuck on things! The detachable handle is also super convenient for storage and keeping the leash untangled!
I had been using a cheaply made longline from Amazon to see how I liked it as a tool - and the safety clip on it, of course, broke (not to mention that it was not biothane so it was filthy immediately). What a relief when this came in the mail! Sturdy as hell and I was so happy to match it to my existing hands free leash set from ST. I LOVE the bright yellow (so others can see my dog is under control) - and especially with the handle strap it’s so easy to keep tidy and carry it around.
I have two long lines, the two dog swivel attachment piece, the hands free system, a 6 foot lead and a 5 foot lead with traffic handle. These are awesome pieces to have and I love their cleanability and flexiblility in ways to use/attach them! I thought at first they might be too heavy for my small dogs (11 and 12 pounds) but they quickly adapted to them. I do find that because my dog is small, the leash I have with the traffic handle isn't especially useful. If I have the handle near her neck then I'm reaching too far down to grab it and if I have it at the top I'm not gaining a control advantage so for me it would be more useful to have to traffic handle in the middle of the length of the leash. (I guess I'll have to order another one ;-)
Well worth the money, especially while supporting a small Canadian business as a Canadian myself. The long line is amazing for my dog without rock-solid recall despite the fact that we take it to the beach and forest even the white cleans up nicely every time! The gear as a whole stands up very well to my dogs prey drive and has yet to give me reason for concern that it would break under the pressure of her pulling. Very well crafted and well loved in my household. 100% will be going back for more should I get another dog!
We’ve had lots of long lines throughout the years but this one is BY FAR our favorite. The biothane is durable but still so smooth. It doesn’t tangle on its own and knots don’t exist! I highly recommend getting it with the handle because it’s life changing when storing it. We got canary and we love it!

I got this long line to help with recall training for my 6 month old puppy. We have used it on hikes (as a drag line where there may be people) and even as a short walking line with the extra rope bundled up till we get to our destination. I thought it might be too heavy as a line but his 25lbs is easily able to run around and it mostly slides through the undergrowth without getting stuck on anything regardless of terrain.
Ordered 30ft longline with handle and I already previously purchased the hands free adapter. Perfect pairing! Very durable and easy to clean doesn’t get tangled. Arlo loves the freedom to walk, sniff and climb on rocks. Me I love seeing him enjoy his walks. Highly recommended
I ordered an orange long line to use for my dog on a hunting trip and it worked out perfectly! The 30ft length was perfect for my dog to have some freedom, but also gave me piece of mind. The orange color is very pretty and also shows up so well in the woods. It is so comfortable on my hands and now I'm trying not to order all the Strange Tails products! Highly HIGHLY recommend!
Very happy with our purchase of the 25ft longline! Great for hiking, and I love being able to give my dog some more space to sniff around while still tethered to me if full my off leash is not an option. Easy to clean, and love that the handle detaches to make it a great dragline.

I bought the biothane long line, the leash with the traffic handle and the hands free adapter and it’s been worth every penny. The long lead works great when exploring new woods areas as my dog was still able to explore while still being tethered to me. Highly recommend!!!
I originally bought a 30ft nylon longline for my puppy and quickly realized how dirty it got, and how difficult it was to clean. This booth and one is perfect for all adventures as it is so easy to clean. We love the versatility in it by being able to have a handle, attach to a chair leg, the hands free adapter, or nothing at all. It is so worth the price.
I purchased a whole set of new gear for my pup - a long line, hands free adapter, traffic handle leash, and martingale collar. every item is of amazing quality, tough, and easy to clean. not to mention my dog looks SO HANDSOME in all his new equipment! I'm sure this gear will last me a long time, but I will absolutely be purchasing again. I might just need a new color combo for every season!
I have been using my long lines (15 ft & 30ft) for 4 weeks now. The quality can withstand dirt, snow, mud, and my dog pulling. I already placed another Strange Tails order! :)
This is absolutely the best item I could have bought for my puppy while teaching his recall. It is light enough for him to drag, and I love that the handle detaches.
We use this leash almost exclusively since getting it. My favourite thing about it is that it’s really easy to wrap up excess and still just have your dog on a few feet if you pass through a busier area. It stays relatively clean, but I don’t think it’ll be “new” ever again. One small chunk of leash fell off sooner than I would have hoped, but it likely got snagged on something particularly sharp. We also have an “anxious” leash sleeve. The canary/ lavender colour combo is very fun :)
