Our Biothane hands-free dog leash adapter a separate item that converts any Strange Tails leash into handsfree mode! It's adjustable so that it can be worn both around the waist or across the body.
Our double ‘O' ring adjustment mechanism is super secure, and prevents the adapter from cinching tight when your dog pulls, or becoming loose while being active.
We recommend pairing our hands-free adapter with our 4ft leashes.

Biothane is a coated webbing material that is strong, flexible and lightweight.
It's also waterproof, doesn't smell and is and stain resistant, making it extremely easy to care for and clean. This makes it our material of choice for pups that love to swim or get dirty!
We use the "Super Heavy" Biothane for all of our leashes, handsfree adapters, classic collars and martingale collars which has a substantial and luxe feel to it. Our adjustable quick release collars use the "Standard" Biothane.
One of the best things about Biothane is how easy it is to care for and clean. Simply soak your gear in warm soapy water as needed. You can use an old toothbrush to scrub away any stubborn dirt. Rinse away any remaining dirt and soap residue with clean water.
Solid brass hardware naturally oxidizes as it ages. It can leave tarnish marks against the biothane, especially on the lighter colours.
To remove tarnish marks, we recommend using a magic eraser or a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Please ensure to thoroughly rinse your product with soap and water before using your gear again.
While Biothane is easy to clean, it does still get dirty. Please keep in mind that lighter colours will show dirt and tarnish marks more easily, and will require more frequent cleaning to keep looking fresh!
It's important to connect the handsfree adapter properly, both to ensure the safety of your dog, as well as your comfort.
To connect the hands free adapter, adjust it to the desired length and clip the trigger snap on the adapter to the furthest O-ring on the adapter. It should look like a circle if you lay it flat. You can clip it across your body or around your waist.
The leash should be fully extended when connected to the handsfree adapter, as illustrated in the below photo. The trigger snap on the leash attaches to the same O-ring that the trigger snap on the adapter attaches to.
Do not attach the trigger snap on the leash onto the trigger snap on the adapter. Do not clip the D-ring on the handle onto the O-ring of the adapter.
Doing so may cause the leash to become unclipped from the handsfree adapter and may cause damage to the hardware.

love this hands free adapter, love how you can place it around the hips as well and my lab can be a puller at times when she's excited so im glad it doesn't tighten. I also got the traffic handle which helps during the times she pulls. Overall love the hands free adapter and leash, love the colors, love the material. Very happy
This is everything I've been looking for in a leash combo! I have the 4ft traffic leash with the low handle and the large size hands free adapter. Both in lilac and bubblegum, the colors are exactly as advertised. The large size hands free adapter works perfect for doing an over the shoulder setup, I was even able to add my fanny pack for holding bags and treats. The traffic handle is perfect for crowd control or walking past other dogs. Having the traffic leash and hands free adapter separate has been a game changer compared to other hands free leashes. I'm able to quickly release my pup to run with the easy to clean leash dragging or have her in hand for tricky terrain on hikes. Great quality, will be buying again and again for my dogs.

I love how customizable the fit is! The rivets sit flush in the biothane, which make the piece feel more secure and better-made than other biothane gear. The solid brass makes it so durable. We frequently go to the ocean, on hikes, and more, so the solid brass quality is a must.
Since I got Draco, I’ve always use a hands free leash. We try multiple, but there was always something missing. I had big expectations for this one and it did not disappoint. I love it and he loves it. So easy to use and adjust and the colors are amazing.
Absolutely love this, feel like Lara Croft whilst wearing it. Handy as I have also used it as a lead when I forgot one whilst out. Clip keys to it as well as the lead and will have poo bags clipped too. Just so handy to have both hands free when out and about.

Very versatile and easy to adjust. My dog tends to pull sometimes and like promised, it didn’t tighten around me. Dog also seemed to walk with her head high, looks like she likes it too ☺️
Jack and I are loving our new set up! I chose the 5ft lead with low positioned handle so I can still utilize his prong collar as needed. Jack is a 50 pound Springer Spaniel and we purchased the 5/8" width and it works well for us. I favor wearing the adapter crossbody style and I was able to also attach my earth rated poo-bag holder to it as well so it falls at my hip and out of the way. This set has been great on walks and super convenient at the vets office - I was able to just unclip from the adapter and secure the lead handle for them to take him back and was able to use my hands at the checkout desk. I wish I had known about this company when he was a little pup - and will be replacing our long line before training our (future) pup at the lake!
Absolutely love our new leash and hands free adaptor. I searched for a hands free option that wouldn’t require me to lose so much leash length to wear it and this is it. The quality is top notch and I can tell it’s going to last us for years so well worth it.

we absolutely love Strange Tails Gear!! we have two sets because the colours are too cute, we couldn’t pick one. A big priority with our Malamute/ Shepherd is to have strong and durable gear and these leashes are amazing! they’ve seen it all - hiking, swimming, puppy training and have held strong. I’ve never had to worry about the leashes breaking even with pulling or hiking, and the fact they wipe clean is a life saver! For something your dog is going to wear everyday these are well worth it. I highly recommend Strange Tails as this is the highest quality equipment we’ve found.
Overall the hands free adapter is a nice product. I like being able to choose the size, colors, and it was received in a timely manner. The only thing I dislike about the hands free adapter is how small the connection ring is, which is the ring where you hook the leash. There's no great place to hang poop bags / treat pouch to the adapter, so the connection ring gets crowded easily. This makes clipping / unclipping the leash to the hands free adapter a little cumbersome. There's also not enough space to hook the other end of the leash to the adapter when my dog is off leash, so it either dangles down or I have to clip the free end somewhere else. Overall it's a good product and works well with other Strange Tails products.
The hands free adapter has been a GAME CHANGER! It’s been so nice to be hands free on walks and be able to put my hands in my pockets and our walks have gotten much colder
A friend in our packwalk had a leash and harness. I had to ask her a few times for the name of your company, but I was determined! I bought the leash and adapter in the colors of clay and lavender. I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this product is. I have tried so many versions of hands free leashes and they all leave me uncomfortable when my 9month old puppy gets excited and pulls - this is an absolute game changer. Not only is it so convenient and easy to adjust, it makes other leashes become hands-free as well. We have been recently trying to do settle training with tethering and she has chewed through any and all fabric leashes. Now I’m able to attach my metal leash to my hands-free adaptor and help teach my little girl how to relax! I have shared this with everyone I know, I want them in every colour!!!
GAME CHANGER! With my 8 ft (2.5 m) leash, I can go for sniffy walks and let the leash drag on the ground without having to hold it, which is really handy when my dog crisscrosses. With my 4 ft (1.4 m) leash and the hands-free adapter, my dog can walk in a perfect heel without the leash bothering us. If you have a Golden Retriever and live near a lake and river, water and odor resistant gear is a must! I would also like to address the "staining" from the brass hardware, since I was concerned about it before my purchase. I have until now only seen "staining" on the hands-free adapter. My hands free adapter is in the color pinot and has midnight accents. The only place where I could spot staining, was the ring to which you can attach the leash. It's minor staining and washable like instructed on the website. On my midnight leash I couldn't spot any staining due to the dark color. The pinot is a lighter color then the midnight and will show minor staining. Since the color is still pretty dark, in comparison to other colors like lilac or frost, the staining is not noticeable if you don't search for it.

I was so excited to get this in the mail today and it's beautiful! So well made and I already got asked where it was from while my girl Chili and I went on a coffee run! We got the handsfree adapter in black/clay with chrome hardware and the matching 4.5 foot leash. I am quite tall with long legs, and I have struggled with finding a hands free leash that is long enough for my short mini Aussie to lay down with but not so long that its dragging all over the ground walking, the 4.5 foot is PERFECT! It was well packed in a nice padded envelope that Chili had a great time shredding.
This is our second set up, and we love it just as much as the first! The hands free adapter and the leash are the perfect for our everyday walks, as well as when we travel. The only problem I have with this leash system is that I want it in more colors, but with just 1 dog, how many leash systems does she really need?!?

This is hands down my favorite hands free leash ever! I’ve tried a TON! I walk dogs at the shelter and I foster dogs so my leashes get A LOT of activity on them. I couldn’t love this adapter or the leashes more! The leashes feel amazing in your hands. The adapter is not only beautiful it’s perfect! I love that if a dog pulls on it it doesn’t cinch and strangle you like most other hands free leashes do!!! AMAZING! When walking shelter dogs they are going to pull and the worst thing you could ever do when walking a shelter dog is drop the leash and with this it’s not possible. So far I got an adapter, a 6 foot leash with the traffic handle and a 4 foot leash with no traffic handle. I love them all and I’m sure I will be back for a longline soon! Keep up the amazing work! Great versatility with this waist/body attachment. We keep it in the car as a back up leash and tie out because of the many ways you can adjust it. And the fit and colors are lovely! Great quality and durability, and comfortable as a body hook up for leashes. Easily paired with other leashes we already own as well with the rings and clip abilities.

Amazing design! I debated getting this b/c my dog is a senior & we don’t ‘adventure’ anymore. However my dog has lost his hearing & I was not enjoying our errand walks or transit travelling as much out of fear I could drop the leash & if he lost sight of me, he would not be able to hear his name. This is secure & clips off easily if you need to detach your dog from you. Great for apartment dwellers if you frequently pick up packages, the hands-free is a game-changer.

I love my handsfree adapter and leash set! I have a corgi, and I am quite tall, so the higher traffic handle on my leash is in the perfect spot! I also have the multi dog adapter, I use it for a saftey strap (from collar in harness). It is the perfect length for my corgi and doesnt get stuck under her leg! We’ve been fans of biothane for a while but never got around to trying strange tails until a couple of weeks ago. We are very very impressed with the quality. It’s durable but not stiff and it had already elevated our adventures!

I got this handsfree adapter and leash combo set. I regretted it at first because afterward, I found some cheaper sets that were available on Etsy and had a much shorter delivery window. These are WAY BETTER!!!! You get what you pay for, the quality of these are unmatched. If you’re looking for the perfect set, it’s this one!! Thicker, sturdier, and more beautiful than all the rest.
