Beautiful yet functional, our dog leashes have been thoughtfully designed with a D-ring and a trigger snap at each end of the leash.
This makes them extremely versatile and adjustable depending on your needs. Here are a few of our favourite ways to leash up:
- Regular, good old fashioned walking with the handle clipped
- Quick tie-ups for patio pups
- Shortened to half-length to keep your pup close in busy settings
- Clipped to both the front and back of a harness for a pup who pulls
- Pair with our handsfree adapter
We use solid brass and chrome-plated solid brass hardware, which won't rust over time. All of our leashes are finished with a Strange Tails moon charm to match your hardware selection.

A note around length: the 4/5/6ft options are measured with the leash handle clipped. Unclipping the leash to attach it to the handsfree adapter will add approx. 1/2ft to your leash length. For example, a 4ft leash will be 4ft with the handle clipped, and approx. 4 1/2ft with the handle unclipped and attached to your handsfree adapter.
Biothane is a coated webbing material that is strong, flexible and lightweight.
It's also waterproof, stink-proof, and stain-proof, making it extremely easy to care for and clean. This makes it our material of choice for pups that love to swim or get dirty!
We use the "Super Heavy" Biothane for all of our leashes, handsfree adapters, classic collars and martingale collars which has a substantial and luxe feel to it. Our adjustable quick release collars use the "Standard" Biothane.
One of the best things about Biothane is how easy it is to care for and clean. Simply soak your gear in warm soapy water as needed. You can use an old toothbrush to scrub away any stubborn dirt. Rinse away any remaining dirt and soap residue with clean water.
Solid brass hardware naturally oxidizes as it ages. It can leave tarnish marks against the biothane, especially on the lighter colours.
To remove tarnish marks, we recommend using a magic eraser or a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Please ensure to thoroughly rinse your product with soap and water before using your gear again.
While Biothane is easy to clean, it does still get dirty. Please keep in mind that lighter colours will show dirt and tarnish marks more easily, and will require more frequent cleaning to keep looking fresh!

Had to get the new 1/2” wide classic leash in two different colours. This one is frost with sage and the other is bubblegum with frost. It is just not possible to pick only one😁. Best leashes ever!!!

I was searching for a light but durable biothane leash when I found StrangeTails! I absolutely love the customization and how easy this is to clean! Absolutely love our new leash and hands free adaptor. I love how the handle unclips to attach to the hands free adaptor and I don’t have to lose any length in the leash. The whole thing feels and looks so high quality and well made that I ca tell it’s going to last us for years.
Absolutely love this lead! The texture and quality is phenomenal for larger dogs. It’s super versatile with all the lengths, being perfect for everyday walking and agility for my dog in the regular mode and then with the extra D-ring closer to the dog becomes an awesome half length for obedience training so I don’t have a ton of lead to manage. The moon charm is so adorable and incredibly unique, as well as a fantastic way to subtly show off where you got the lead from. The customisation options are unmatched for a truly personal piece of equipment. Definitely recommending to everyone I know!
Absolutely love this leash! It’s such good quality and so much easier to clean compared to the rope leash I had before. It’s very sturdy and has done well through a walk in the rain. The color is really nice and exactly what I was hoping for. I only wish I measured my old leash first… I assumed it was a 5’ leash so I ordered the 5’, but when I clip it to a dog walking belt bag I have it’s a bit long and I wish I ordered the 4’. Still works amazingly though!

Such a well made leash! I’ve bought other custom made biothane leashes before and the craftmanship on these can’t be beat! You can tell a lot of attention and detail went into it. No misalignment of the material etc. Everything looks so perfectly cut and put together. Leash material feels very nice in hand. I got the 5” with the hands free adapter and it’s perfect for short neighborhood walks!

Love it - just as expected, this is my second Strange Tails leash, I already have the crossbody which is perfect. Purchased 5ft + a safety strap for my new dog who i was previously walking with 2 leashes (one strange tails 4ft and a regular nylon) for safety. This is a lot more comfortable to handle. The auto-locking upgrade is also not heavy, and i’m glad i tried it. 4 ft was great for my senior dog who passed away, but 5ft for my young rescue gives us some space for her to explore, while being city appropriate. The brass does mark the lavender where there is friction, but wipes off easily.
Really love this leash. The quality is unmatched, it has a good weight without being too heavy, the handle is comfortable and I can pair it with the hands free adapter to make walks so much easier.
These leashes are great! They look amazing but are also strong enough for my two 50lbs dogs. The 5” length is with the hands free system. My dogs have enough length to sniff but not too much that they get themselves tangled.

I ordered a custom 8 ft (2.5 m) leash. I'm really happy with the length! It gives my dog enough freedom for siniffy walks and can even be used for short hikes/longer walks. When having a golden retriever and living near a lake and a river having water and stink proof gear is a must!

By far the best biothane leash ever. And with the hands free adaptor it’s a GAME changer. I couldn’t recommend strange tails enough. As a disabled service dog handler good quality gear is a must. I got the Pinot leash with a cedar handle, cedar collar, and the hands free adapter. The quality is amazing and I love the colors! The leash has been through the sand and lots of rainy hikes, but it still looks good as new! Everywhere we go we get lots of compliments. I also purchased a matching long line because I loved it so much. Definitely would recommend these products!!
I've been eyeing the Cedar color for a while now and wanted to do a custom order for taking the pups on hikes. The standard 6' is great, but not enough room for hiking, and the shortest long line is a bit too long for where we hike so I opted for a custom 10' which is perfect for what we do! Quality of course is always amazing.
I already know I'm getting quality gear when I order from Strange Tails. I did a custom order to make the standard 6' into a 10' for more room for the Grey when we do hikes. I love how vibrant this is and how great it looks on my girl.
We love our Strange Tails collars and leashes! They are extremely well made and the perfect balance of aesthetic and functional. My dogs love to hike, swim, and roll in the dirt, so having collars and leashes that are easy to clean and durable is a must.
