Our Biothane martingale dog collars are ready for adventure! These collars feature solid brass hardware, including a buckle style adjustment mechanism with a low-profile strap keeper and martingale chain.
Finished with a brass Strange Tails moon charm, our Biothane martingale collars are proudly handmade in our Vancouver, Canada studio.
Please note: The martingale chain is solid brass and will oxidize as it ages. Since the chain sits directly on the fur, please keep in mind that it may discolour the fur of light coloured dogs. Regular cleaning of the hardware with mild soap and a damp cloth can help to prevent this.
Biothane is a coated webbing material that is strong, flexible and lightweight.
It's also waterproof, stink-proof, and stain-proof, making it extremely easy to care for and clean. This makes it our material of choice for pups that love to swim or get dirty!
We use the "Super Heavy" Biothane for all of our leashes, handsfree adapters, classic collars and martingale collars which has a substantial and luxe feel to it. Our adjustable quick release collars use the "Standard" Biothane.
One of the best things about Biothane is how easy it is to care for and clean. Simply soak your gear in warm soapy water as needed. You can use an old toothbrush to scrub away any stubborn dirt. Rinse away any remaining dirt and soap residue with clean water.
Solid brass hardware naturally oxidizes as it ages. It can leave tarnish marks against the biothane, especially on the lighter colours.
To remove tarnish marks, we recommend using a magic eraser or a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Please ensure to thoroughly rinse your product with soap and water before using your gear again.
While Biothane is easy to clean, it does still get dirty. Please keep in mind that lighter colours will show dirt and tarnish marks more easily, and will require more frequent cleaning to keep looking fresh!

Wanted to love this collar because it was a super cute alternative to tradition martingale collars, but my pit bull mix broke through 2! The company was great in sending me a quick replacement, but after the second one broke with very little pressure getting pulled, I just don’t have faith it won’t break again. Could be an option if your dog doesn’t pull much!
We absolutely LOVE the collars and leashes from Strange Tails. The Biothane is perfect because it's water and drool proof! Our newest addition is a Biothane Martingale in Cedar to match our Cedar/Tangerine leash. We get compliments everywhere we go on the beautiful colours and outstanding quality. I highly recommend donating your other collars/leashes and upgrading to Strange Tails, your pup will thank you <3
The aesthetics are fantastic. I love it as a new training tool, for light corrections with the sound of the chain. And having it as a backup collar makes my hikes easier and safer. I usually connect the collar to the harness with the longline handle. When you have a golden retriever and live near a lake and river, having water and smell proof gear is a must!

Absolutely love strange tails gear! I bought a 6 ft leash last year but wanted something a little shorter for around town walks and the 4ft is perfect with the handsfree adapter
I LOVE the collar I got for my girl! She’s reactive towards other dogs so the chain really helps to keep her in check when I’m walking her. The material is perfect and so is the color. I’m in love with it!
So well-made and beautiful, and I love that it’s adjustable! I’ve purchased biothane martingale collars from other shops that weren’t adjustable, and it became such a waste when Bella outgrew them (she was a teen pup at the time). I could have avoided that with shopstrangetails adjustable martingales! Such a genius design!

It's cute but a little bulky for my little dog. Also, the color dyed my dog's fur after she went for a swim. I was made aware that this could happen when I purchased it, so not a huge surprise. However, it would be nice if the waterproof collar color didn't run when wet...

Biothane Martingale Collar
Finding a martingale style collar for my large dog has always proved challenging, finding one I actually liked the design of is near-impossible. This is the first time I've been able to get a collar for her that's beautiful and functional. The stunning colour, option for brass hardware, and ability to buckle and unbuckle (I never find this option on martingale collars!) are fantastic. The biothane holds up really well and wipes clean so it doesn't pick up odours like her previous fabric collars have. I will be purchasing a second for my new rescue dog!

Strange Tails martingale collar, hands-free adapter set and long line are part of my daily gear. Quality is amazing and incredibly sturdy. Hardware is heavy duty. I love to support local when I can and know these are hand-made to order (not mass produced) gives me reassurance that they check for quality control and stand by their product. I admit that they are on the expensive side, but honestly 100% worth the investment. I have a reactive dog and that sense of security and peace of mind having her attached to me when walking is worth it. Great customer service - Savannah and team are absolutely amazing! It's heavier than I expected, but I got used to it after time. Would recommend getting the narrow width if you worry about the weight or have a smaller dog.
Love the quality and look of this collar. My husky loves playing in any water sprinklers he sees on our walks and getting in any body of water on our hikes so his collar is constantly dirty. His new martingale collar is easy to clean and has also been durable when he sees a squirrel or cat and it gets pulled when walking on leash. Bonus that the brass hardware makes it look classy and timeless. Love it!

This martingale collar is very well-made and high quality. I love how sturdy it is and it’s a great training collar for CoCo. I love the lilac color against her black coat. I take her collar off at night since she sleeps in her crate and the collar is easy to buckle. I bought this collar just to try the brand - now I’m ready for the full set including the long line! I love strange tails products. This collar is the best because it’s more fashionable than just a chain. Looks so good on my fur babies. Also, customer service is amazing. I ordered during Black Friday and the promo did not go through. I emailed them and they fixed it literally that day. Awesome products, awesome customer service 🐶❤️
I looove this collar!! It is gorgeous on my dog and so well made. What is says on the site is true though, the hardware will discolor white dogs so just be aware of that. I only leave my dogs collar on for short periods typically and it hasn't been a problem then
