Designed with durability and quality in mind, we’ve opted to use authentic Austrialpin Cobra FM buckles for our dog collars which are the best of the best when it comes to quick release hardware. These buckles are made in Austria from stainless steel, aluminum alloy and brass components and have an 800lb working load rating.
Our quick release collars are made from standard weight Biothane, which allows them to be adjustable in size. This makes the fit of these collars much more forgiving than a traditional belt-buckle style collar! Each collar features two button studs that keep the adjustment mechanism of the collar in place. The buckles are available in black in 3/4” and 1”, and coyote brown in 1”. The rest of the hardware on the collar is available in your choice or brass or chrome. Each collar is finished with a Strange Tails moon charm to match your hardware selection.
A few notes:
- The button stud components are made from solid brass/ nickel plated solid brass while the backing pieces are made from brass plated/ nickel plated iron.
- While the quick release buckles we use are extremely durable, the black/brown finish will wear away with use. As such, we will not cover wearing of the finish or cosmetic damage to the quick release buckles under our warranty.
Biothane is a coated webbing material that is strong, flexible and lightweight.
It's also waterproof, stink-proof, and stain-proof, making it extremely easy to care for and clean. This makes it our material of choice for pups that love to swim or get dirty!
We use the "Super Heavy" Biothane for all of our leashes, handsfree adapters, classic collars and martingale collars which has a substantial and luxe feel to it. Our adjustable quick release collars use the "Standard" Biothane.
One of the best things about Biothane is how easy it is to care for and clean. Simply soak your gear in warm soapy water as needed. You can use an old toothbrush to scrub away any stubborn dirt. Rinse away any remaining dirt and soap residue with clean water.
Solid brass hardware naturally oxidizes as it ages. It can leave tarnish marks against the biothane, especially on the lighter colours.
To remove tarnish marks, we recommend using a magic eraser or a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Please ensure to thoroughly rinse your product with soap and water before using your gear again.
While Biothane is easy to clean, it does still get dirty. Please keep in mind that lighter colours will show dirt and tarnish marks more easily, and will require more frequent cleaning to keep looking fresh!

Absolutely love the adjustable biothane quick release colour. It’s practical but also beautiful — the perfect combo for my active, water-loving golden girl. After trying out a few different collars/brands, this one checks all the boxes for us.
Beautifully crafted, maximum adorable on our dog. Sage colour shows dirt quickly, but it's easy to clean. Love the lightweight metal clasp.

Great quality and the color Sage is exactly as I hoped it would be and accurate to the website photos! The buckle is secure and durable. The only issue is the holes were too small for the sliding adjustment piece (to make it smaller or larger) and it was extremely difficult to push it through. It took me at least 20 minutes and at one point I thought I’d have to send it back! But it looks gorgeous.

This adjustable 1-inch biothane collar is easy to use and simple to adjust. I was a bit worried about sizing because my 60 lb pup tends to slip out of collars due to his long, thick fur, but the biothane material has a slightly anti-slip feel and he hasn’t been able to slip out of this one. The sizing range works well for him and the collar is fairly lightweight. I was also initially unsure about the buckle since it felt a little wiggly, but so far it has held up well and customer service reassured me that these buckles haven’t had issues. The quick-release buckle only opens when both sides are pinched at the same time so it won’t accidentally come undone. The moss green with brass hardware looks great on my pup, and the coyote brown buckle blends in nicely, though black would have worked too. Happy with our new gear!
I love these collars! Just ordered my third one for our third dog. I’m super picky about collars and I love that these are easy to clean, super strong clasp with quick release, beautiful color options, perfect fit. Also they have great customer service!

These are my absolute favorite collars! The design is so unique but looks amazing at the same time. The authentic cobra buckles are top notch and I won’t ever use another type of buckle for my reactive dog. I have never had a Strange Tails collar fail which is so important to me as safety is at the top of my priorities for my dog!
I just received the quick release adjustable collar 1 inch along with the leash both in midnight color in the mail. The leash is decent kinda looks like it was used the color is already looking like it’s starting to rust. As seen in the video. The collar appear to be sturdy collar in the pictures but it is certainly not. If my 60 pound dog were to pull hard enough it looks like it would break. This collar is definitely not worth $45. I have other collars that are less than $45 and are built way better. I do not recommend this product.
I absolutely love this collar! It is one of three for my Labradors, who are always wet, so it's perfect for them. The buckle is excellent as well. We will probably end up getting every color eventually!

I ordered a large collar That was supposed to be A large collar to fit a bloodhound. It stated on your sizing chart. It should be as a large 16 to 20 inches. However, the total length of it is 16 inches. It’s also very thin. It looks like it should fit on a dachshund not a bloodhound. I saw the one depicted in your ad that looked as it was held in a lady’s hand to be actually even more than an inch wide baby an inch and a half. I just feel like for that price. It ought to be accurate. It looks like it’s constructed very nicely but in no way is it what I thought it would be based on the picture and I don’t see how one can make it larger than what I have here so I think you need to send me the right thing . I included pictures that came from your ad and compared them to the one that I got which I have on my Jack Russell terrier because it looks like it should fit him and he’s 23 pounds. I would appreciate a phone call. I’ve sent you an email there’s no way to get a hold of you by phone and that’s another thing I don’t care for. I buy a lot of dog equipment because I train dogs and I refer clients to people for good quality equipment. And while I think this is made well, it’s definitely not accurate for a large and they sent me the wrong size and the width is way too thin for a bloodhound.
This collar is fantastic. The cobra clip has been invaluable for my dog on the farm who has been secured safely multiple times now in the few weeks he has worn the collar. The quality, style and fit is unmatched, so much so I shipped it all the way to New Zealand. Can not recommend it more.
We love it! Last summer when she’d go swimming her collar would get wet and stay wet for hours and then get super smelly. We’ve been to the lake once this year already and the biothane is such a life saver and super easy to clean and NO smell. Delivery was pretty quick for a custom made item as well. 10/10 on every level
Love this collar! Great quality easy to adjust and the quick release feature makes it easy to put on in the morning and take off at night before bed, you can tell great care was put into making this collar. The seafoam color is really pretty with the brass hardware. Can’t wait to get the long line and hands free leash with adapter next. Definitely worth the money.

Living on Vancouver island we were on the hunt for waterproof gear for our pups. Not only is this gear functional and waterproof, it’s BEAUTIFUL, multipurpose and the quick release make potty breaks easy! We also opted for the auto locking carabiner and are so glad we did to have the peace of mind that our little escape artist is secure!

This is by far my favorite collar that I have ever owned! If you are looking for a lightweight but very durable collar, this quick release collar will not disappoint. I love the easiness of removing or putting on the collar with the quick release authentic cobra buckle and the best thing is it doesn't feel heavy!
Obsessed with this collar and leash! I bought it knowing I’d need to upsize once my puppy grew, so I’ll be putting in another order very soon! I’m obsessed with the color combo! I’m so happy this brand offers such versatility with being able to chose the metal colors. The quick release is so helpful, easy, and sturdy and has aged beautifully! I got the 5 foot leash with the traffic handle and the traffic handle is perfect! My pup is pretty short so I could’ve gotten the 4 ft, but being able to hook the leash in half for a shorter length is another great feature I love about this leash! Got this amazon “Do Not Pet” attachment and it fits perfectly around the 1in leash! So easy to clean and such amazing quality. Can’t wait to have a collection of these leashes!
Honey and I LOVE the biothane collar, leash, and hands free adapter. I love the sleekness and functionality of the design. I wanted a leash a little more stylish than my Kong hands free leash and this is perfect! The only mild complaint is that since it’s biothane and I chose the brass finish, it is on the heavier size for my Cavapoo. But the quality makes up the difference in my opinion. The customer service was also super accommodative and patient with my extensive sizing questions.
I bought this collar for my dog who loves to play in water and ruff and tumble with other dogs. I don't have to worry about bacteria and smells now. He gets a ton of compliments on the collar too!
We're so happy with our purchase. Our pup looks great in her teal collar with matching leash. We love the two-tone colour on the leash, how easy everything is to clean, and how durable the products are. We're still training our girl to walk on leash, and so far the gear has withstood her pulling very well.
